Uninstall
How to remove LimePanel from a server without touching your customers' sites, mail and data.
The principle
Uninstalling removes the panel, not your customers' services. Afterwards, sites keep responding, mail keeps arriving, and databases and DNS zones stay where they are.
See what would happen first
As root:
panelctl uninstall
With no other option the command changes nothing: it shows what would be removed, what would stay, and the exact command to proceed.
Uninstalling
To proceed you confirm by typing the panel's host name:
panelctl uninstall --confirm panel.yourdomain.com
If the name does not match, the command stops without doing anything.
Before removing anything, the command saves the panel database and configuration in /root/limepanel-disinstallazione-<date>. If the backup fails, it stops without changing anything.
What is removed
Without --purge |
With --purge, additionally |
|---|---|
| the panel services (agent, API, worker) and their timers | the panel database (users, customers, activity log) |
| the installed panel releases | the configuration in /etc/limepanel |
the panelctl command |
the panel logs |
panelctl uninstall --confirm panel.yourdomain.com --purge
Even with --purge, the backup in /root is created first.
What is never touched
- your customers' sites, the web server and PHP;
- mail: mailboxes, Postfix and Dovecot;
- customer databases in MariaDB;
- DNS zones in BIND;
- backups and everything in
/var/lib/limepanel.
The license
From version 1.0, uninstalling also releases the license, which becomes usable on another server right away. You can also do it by hand before uninstalling:
panelctl license deactivate
Reinstalling
To reinstall, run the install command again with your license key:
curl -fsSL https://get.limepanel.it/install.sh | sudo sh -s -- --license-key LP-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX
The full command with your key is in the customer area. A trial key cannot be reused on another IP.
With the backup in /root/limepanel-disinstallazione-<date> you can restore the previous panel's database and configuration.
